FAQs
-
What is Direct Primary Care?Direct Primary Care (DPC) is a healthcare model that prioritizes the patient-doctor relationship. It offers unlimited office visits, extended appointments, and direct access to your doctor via phone, text, email, or video chat, all for a flat monthly fee. This model allows us to provide proactive, personalized care without the constraints of insurance companies.
-
What services does Crenshaw Family Medicine offer? We provide comprehensive primary care services, including preventive care, chronic disease management, women's health, pediatric care, weight management, minor procedures, and more. Our goal is to address most of your healthcare needs under one roof.
-
Do you accept insurance? No, we don't accept insurance. This allows us to focus solely on your care without the restrictions and paperwork associated with insurance companies. It also enables us to offer wholesale prices on laboratory tests and imaging.
-
Do I still need insurance?Yes, we recommend maintaining a high-deductible insurance plan or a health share plan for emergencies, hospitalizations, or specialist care that we can't provide. Our care often reduces the need for these services, but it's important to have coverage for unexpected events.
-
What if I need to see a specialist or go to the hospital? While we strive to minimize the need for specialist visits and hospitalizations, there may be times when they're necessary. In such cases, we'll coordinate your care with specialists or hospital staff. We'll work closely with them to ensure you receive comprehensive care.
-
Can I join Crenshaw Family Medicine if I have Medicare?Yes, Medicare patients are welcome. You'll need to sign a waiver every two years stating that neither you nor Dr. Crenshaw will directly bill Medicare for our services. Medicare will still cover any laboratory testing, imaging, medications, or hospitalizations we order.
-
How do I benefit from this model if I don't need frequent medical care? Our model emphasizes preventive care and early intervention. With unlimited access to Dr. Crenshaw, you can address health concerns early, potentially preventing more serious issues. Regular check-ins and a deep understanding of your health history allow us to provide truly personalized care, whether you need frequent attention or not.
-
What are the advantages of your weight loss program? Our weight loss program offers personalized plans under medical supervision. It includes comprehensive health assessments, customized nutrition and exercise plans, behavioral counseling, and ongoing support. As part of our DPC model, you have regular access to Dr. Crenshaw throughout your weight loss journey.
